FACHE
As of May 1st, I finally reached Fellow status in the American College of Healthcare Executives. Having letters behind your name in healthcare is a HUGE deal. As I have said here, you can't go to even an orientation at the hospital or conference without seeing a nurse sign their name with "RN, BSN, MSN, etc" behind it, or any other profession in healthcare put their own letters behind their name on everything.
I guess you work so hard for it you don't want to not use it! For my credential, I went through 3 interview by current Fellows, took a huge exam that I studied 6 months for, had to get 3 recommendation letters sent on my behalf from current Fellows, earned 40 hours of continuing education credits (CEUs), and sent in a huge application (oh, can't for get all the application and exam fees in there too). After all that was done, I had to wait until I had 5 years of management experience for it to go in effect.
I wish I could say I can sit back and relax now, but some of my CEUs are on the verge of expiring! It looks like Meredith MHA, FACHE will be signing up for some conferences ASAP!

The Mr. uses his "mad agronomy skill" and writes for The Island Connection News (newspaper for Kiawah and Seabrook Islands) regarding various landscaping, plant, and irrigation topics.

Our Little One
Everything went really well at the lst trimester screening today, and everything looks normal. We'll have the full results when my bloodwork comes back in about a week. The ultrasound tech at MUSC Prenatal Wellness Center, Juli, was AWESOME!
Our little one had its legs crossed the whole time (very proper just like its mom!!), so we don't know what it is yet! Juli tried everything to try to get it to move, but he/she was comfortable where it was!

Two BIG pieces of NEWS!
If word on the street hasn't gotten to you yet, I have some BIG NEWS! We're expecting September 21, 2010! We have our 1st Trimester Screening Ultrasound today. Some say that we may be able to tell what sex the baby is today!
I hope I am not getting my hopes up too much, but we are looking forward to seeing the baby and knowing more about him/her. We are about 12 to 13 weeks along.
The next BIG NEWS is I am thinking about starting another blog to record my pregnancy. How about those shenanigans? Would you follow me there too or would you rather me post on here once a week?

Graham Posing In The SC Snow of 2010
This was Graham's first time playing in the snow. I haven't "played" in snow in 10 year (I think it has been that long). The Mr. was really wanting to head for the mountains since he hadn't seen snow in a while, so it was great to finally see snow last weekend!
The snow lasted until about 1or 2 in the afternoon after falling through the night. That is the good thing about SC snow; it is in one day and gone the next. We were up in Lexington for the weekend. Lexington got about 8 inches of snow, but only 4-5 inches at my parents house since it is by the water.
Graham was funny with the snow at first. He wouldn't too much pay attention to the camera. He was too busy checking everything out.

25 Random Things about Mrs. Soirées & Shenanigans
This was done on Facebook a while back, so I thought I would share it here for my "It's Finally Friday" post.
1.I married a YANKEE! Ok, so he is from Ohio. As my Dad told him, “You got to watch those Yankees. They come down South to steal our women and reap their fortunes.”
2.I would like to be a professor one day (without a PhD...no more school...please).
3.I lettered in high school track, but I didn’t run. I did shot put and discs (I think they lettered me because they felt bad)
4.I started running August 2005 and ran my first marathon in April 2006
5.I LOVE Craigslist! I rented my house within two hours after posting it the first time. I’ve been hooked ever since!
6.Graham, our dog, is the king of the house. He even has his own chair in the den (the biggest chair).
7.My favorite quote is “what we permit, we promote.”
8.I’m “5 foot 2, eyes of blue”….just like the song!
9.I’m not much of a traveler. It would suit me better to have a new outfit, new pair of sevens or shoes than to take an expensive trip.
10.I'm cheap when it comes to the gas and electric bill! We keep our house on 62 degrees in the winter and 80 degrees in the summer.
11.I was diagnosed with Wolfe Parkinson White Syndrome (heart condition) and had an ablation in college to “disconnect” the extra electrical pathway in my heart that cause it in excess of 250 beat per minute at times.
12.I personally get an extra kick out of those “go back to Ohio” stickers. I make a point to point them out! In fact, the first time The Mr.’s Mom visited, she happened to see one. She, a buckeye herself, didn’t get it at the time, but if you're from the South, you know what they mean!!
13.I live near the home of Akim Anastopoulo’s filming studio. Charleston lawyer turned on-air personality has converting an old Piggly Wiggly (a local supermarket chain) into the largest television and film studio in the state. This hot attraction is about 3 miles from our house.
14.I purchased my husband a really nice wedding band, but a month after we married he thought he lost it. From that moment forward, he sports a cheap K-Mart band. His original band stays in the jewelry box…here’s a hint, K-Mart jewelry is always 60-75% off.
15.I have lived in Charleston for 11 years. So far, I have moved 6 times. I think this last move was for good…at least for a little while.
16.I played the Bass for 8 year…occasionally got first chair too believe it or not!
17.I’m an April Fool’s Baby! Lucky me; all the jokes are old!!!
18.I’d like a blackberry, but The Mr. says that is grounds for divorce.
19.I passed the Board of Governor’s exam in November 2008. Officially, I am a certified healthcare executive. In May, I will advance to Fellow status (Mrs. Soirées & Shenanigans, FACHE, MHA). In healthcare, everyone is so big about the stuff that comes after their names. I teach a few classes at work, and when people sign up, the always sign their name with RNIII, MS...blah blah blah). Dude, I am just asking you to sign in, not for your resume!
20.I’ve been a preceptor for 7 MHA students over the past 4 year. I enjoy mentoring and teaching.
21.I’m a consignment shop junky. Love to shop and find a good deal. It is pretty bad when they know you by name. Chances are if you ask me where I got my outfit, it probably is consignment or at least part of it.
22.I only know the first names of my neighbors on one side of us, and have never spoken to the one behind us, across the street or on the other side of us. At the risk of sounding stuck up, I just don't care to know them. Obviously they feel the same way; they didn't come over with cookies or anything when we moved in.
23.I have turned from a dog hater, to a dog liker, to now a GRAHAM lover. It is kind-of sick what Graham has done to me.
24.I love to read blogs. I currently “lurk” at over 30 blogs a day. Let me know if you have one, I’d love to lurk. I rarely comment, but getting better now that I have my own. I'm beginning to feel that lurkers stink! I feel like I am writing a diary instead of a blog sometimes.

It's Finally Friday!
Around noon every Friday, I start singing this song in my head!
My Dad took us to school everyday (we used to ride the bus until some creep (aka Larry Gene Bell) was on the loose)! On Fridays, the radio station, WCOS, would play "It's Finally Friday" by George Jones at 7:30 AM. I used to make sure we didn't leave the house too early on Fridays, so I wouldn't be dropped off before our song played. Those were the days!
Now, sit back, turn your speakers up, and listen to some George Jones because IT'S FINALLY FRIDAY!!!

Hey Culligan Man, You Rock!
While growing up, my Dad always wanted to make sure us kids knew the importance of giving. He never made a show about giving; he just did it! My Dad was honored on Monday night with The Pillar of the Community Award by the Town of Lexington and Police Department. He has donated over 8,000 bottles of water to them. He was recognized at the town council meeting and received an award shaped like a pillar. Wow, how cool is that?
Dear Daddy,
We are so proud of you...Congrats! You have always been very generous, but often take the "behind the senses approach" when giving and doing good deeds. You're hardly ever recognized for the many (often private) deeds you've done. I know it may have been out of your comfort zone to go to the town council meeting to accept this awesome award, but you deserve it; you rock! I am so proud to call you My Dad!
