Watch those coupons....

Yesterday I went to Publix for big shopping trip.  My mom and aunt gave me their coupons from their papers from the past few weeks, so I was armed with savings!  Also, Nick wasn't with me, so I was able to spend a full hour in the grocery store matching my coupons with the store deals!

I saved $60 and spent $63.  However, after examination of my receipt when I got home, I noticed my $4 off 4 Beggin Strips coupon was only calculated as 40 cents.  UGH...that burned me up!

Since I now have a pregger belly, people tend to distract me with the typical questions asked of a pregnant lady (When are you due, What are you having, Is it your first.....????).  The bagger had the line up of questions flying, so I wasn't paying attention to the screen.

Next time, I will need to follow the tips of the trade.

-Stack coupons highest to lowest value.  If one pops on the screen out of order (40 cents instead of $4), you know that is an immediate red flag of a possible error.

-Hand the cashier coupons one by one.  I am sure this ticks them off, but if you want full savings, it is worth it!  If I would have done it, I would have saved $3.60 more yesterday!!!

Did you see this?

6-story Jesus statue in Ohio struck by lightning?  This statue is on the drive to the Mr's hometown.  We always look for it on our drive.  When I saw it on the news (this has made national and world news), I just about chocked!

After shot of Statue-from Dayton Daily News
Here is what the AP had to say about it.
"MONROE, Ohio – A six-story statue of Jesus Christ was struck by lightning and burned to the ground, leaving only a blackened steel skeleton and pieces of foam that were scooped up by curious onlookers Tuesday.

The "King of Kings" statue, one of southwest Ohio's most familiar landmarks, had stood since 2004 at the evangelical Solid Rock Church along Interstate 75 in Monroe, just north of Cincinnati.

The lightning strike set the statue ablaze around 11:15 p.m. Monday, Monroe police dispatchers said.

The sculpture, about 62 feet tall and 40 feet wide at the base, showed Jesus from the torso up and was nicknamed Touchdown Jesus because of the way the arms were raised, similar to a referee signaling a touchdown. It was made of plastic foam and fiberglass over a steel frame, which is all that remained Tuesday.
The nickname is the same used for a famous mural of the resurrected Jesus that overlooks the Notre Dame football stadium. "

Know about Wal-Mart Free Samples?

Click here to go to Wal-Mart's web site's free sample page.  I have received anything from detergent to food samples from this site.  The best part is you input basic information to get the sample.  No strings attached!

This page is updated with new samples often, so keep checking it for new products.

Sample sizes are great for traveling, turning your guest bathroom into a hotel setting for your guest, or to try a new product!  I love getting samples in the mail.  It sure helps going to the mail box to expect a little more than just another bill!

All I want for Christmas is my.....

My nephew lost his first tooth!  According to my bro's Facebook (that's the way we keep up these days), he pulled it himself!  How much is the Tooth Fairy paying these days?

Just lettin' you know....

So, keeping up two blogs is becoming a little tough.  Some days, I just don't know what to blog about.  I'm still going to post every day, but it might be less frequent on this blog and more on Mrs. Pregnant in the Lowcountry.  Little Tillman is starting to take over my thinking these days.  I read one of my many emails I subscribe to about pregnancy, and it said I was entering the 3rd trimester...yikes!

I still going to blog on this one, but to catch my daily read make sure to check out Mrs. Pregnant!

Beggin' Strips-Deal at Publix

Graham doesn't get treats unless they are on sale.  I generally stock up on treats when I can get them for free (of course!).
Yesterday (the sale might end today) Publix has Beggin' Strips buy one get one free (2 for $3).  Publix also has several Publix flyers with coupons.  One of the flyers (I think the green one) has a coupon for $3 off any one Beggin' Strips.
So, with this coupon and the BOGO, you'll get two for FREE!

*my Publix doesn't leave the flyers by the doors like most Publix.  You must go to the customer service desk and ask for one.  They will only give you one (bummer!).  I think I'm going back today to get two more bags for Graham.  He love Beggin' Strips!

Fallen in like

The Mr. and I have had a long journey with the current house we live.  Last year this time, we didn't have a kitchen.  In fact, it looked like this.

It was really hard for me to "fall in love" with a place I couldn't even walk bare foot around (a place you pay a mortgage on, and it looks like this; gets you really bummed).  The Mr. put many hours of blood (literally...a jig saw cut his leg), sweat, and (my) tears in to this house to make it our home.
The Mr. and I were "lounging" in the pool on Sunday looking back at the house remembering this time last year.  Honestly, it wasn't the best time in our lives.  I was extremely unhappy, and while cleaning the pool last year (we didn't lounge at all last year), I looked back on this house as a HUGE mistake and just wanted my old life back.
While I have not "fallen in love" with this house, I certainly have "fallen in like" with it.  When we purchased this house, we really liked the idea of a pool and being able to entertain (although, we probably won't have another pool...).  We also liked that it was an older home and it has some charm to it.  This weekend, we really got to enjoy the house.  We had folks over on Saturday for a little pool party, and on Friday I got to pick some flowers and make an arrangement.  These little things make this house feel like home.

This picture is taken from the same view as the picture above.

You Got A Minute?

This one-minute sermon was emailed to me a few weeks ago.  I think it is a great way to start the day, so take a minute and listen to the "bottom line!"
